CP Radhakrishnan Sworn In as India’s 15th Vice President

• CP Radhakrishnan was sworn in as the 15th Vice President of India on 12 September 2025, with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of top dignitaries.
• The NDA candidate won the election with 452 votes, defeating Opposition nominee B. Sudershan Reddy (300 votes), aided by cross-voting including support from 11 YSRCP MPs.
• His victory, hailed by PM Narendra Modi, boosts the NDA’s hold on key constitutional posts and marks a milestone for the leader often called the “Vajpayee of Coimbatore.”

List of Outcomes : State visit of Prime Minister of Mauritius to India

• During the State Visit of the Prime Minister of Mauritius to India, seven MoUs/agreements were signed between the two nations covering key areas such as Science & Technology, Oceanography, Public Administration, Power, Development Projects, Hydrography, and Space Cooperation.
• Additionally, three announcements were made, including academic collaborations between IIT Madras and University of Mauritius, and a proposal to establish a 17.5 MW Floating Solar PV Project at Tamarind Falls with support from NTPC Ltd.

Amit Shah, inaugurates Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme

• Shri Amit Shah launched the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) virtually at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar airports, expanding this initiative to a total of 13 airports nationwide.
• The programme, aligned with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Speed, Scale, and Scope, offers passengers seamless immigration clearance within 30 seconds, eliminating long queues and manual checks.
• Since its 2024 launch, around 3 lakh travellers have registered, with 2.65 lakh users benefiting so far.

Purple Fest 2025 Celebrates Inclusion and Empowerment

• The Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC), in collaboration with Amity University, Noida, organized Purple Fest 2025 on 10-11 September, promoting equality, dignity, and confidence for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
• Highlights included an art & craft exhibition, entrepreneurship stalls, cultural programs, and Continuing Rehabilitation Education focusing on Indian Sign Language.

India Hits 250 GW Non-Fossil Fuel Power Capacity

• India has reached a significant milestone of 250 GW in non-fossil fuel power capacity and aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
• Speaking at the State Review Meeting on Renewable Energy in New Delhi, he highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship initiatives Swachh Bharat and Swachh Energy as key drivers for sustainable development.
• Joshi also emphasized the positive impact of NEXT GEN GST reforms on GDP growth and shared that under the government’s utility-led model, 20 lakh households have received free sustainable electricity, targeting 1 crore households nationwide.

IIM Ahmedabad Launches First Global Campus in Dubai

• In a landmark event, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the first international campus of IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) at Dubai International Academic City.

• The Dubai campus begins with a one-year full-time MBA programme for professionals and entrepreneurs, with 35 students from diverse sectors.

• India has launched SAJEX 2025 — the Saudi Arabia Jewellery Exposition — in Jeddah to deepen trade ties with Saudi Arabia and expand outreach across the GCC and global markets.
• Held from September 11–13 at the Jeddah Superdome, the event hosts 200+ exhibitors, showcasing diamond, gemstone, bridal jewellery, lab-grown diamonds, and tech innovations.
• Organized by the GJEPC with support from India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
• With Saudi Arabia’s jewellery market projected to grow from $4.56B in 2024 to $8.34B by 2030, SAJEX 2025 positions India as a key partner in the region’s evolving luxury and jewellery sector.

Namo Bharat Becomes India’s Fastest Train

• Namo Bharat becomes India’s fastest train, running at 160 km/h on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor.
• Covering 55 km of the planned 82.15 km route, it connects Delhi to Meerut in under an hour, surpassing speed caps on Gatimaan Express and Vande Bharat.
• The train features modern tech like ATP, ATC, and ATO, with 36-car sets running every 15 minutes.
• Integrated with the upcoming Meerut Metro, Namo Bharat revolutionizes regional rapid transit with seamless, high-speed connectivity.

India to Conduct National Surveys on Household Finance and Agriculture

• The National Statistics Office (NSO) under MoSPI will conduct two major surveys — the All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS) and the Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households — from July 2026 to June 2027.
• These nationally representative surveys provide vital data on household finance, indebtedness, assets, and agricultural livelihoods, and are key for evidence-based policymaking by institutions like the RBI, Ministry of Agriculture, and NITI Aayog.
• Draft Concept Notes and Schedules are open for public feedback on the MoSPI website until 30th September 2025, inviting suggestions to improve survey content and relevance.

PM Modi Announces ₹1,200 Cr Aid for Uttarakhand Floods

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the devastating flood situation caused by cloudbursts, rains, and landslides in Uttarakhand and announced a financial assistance package of ₹1,200 crore to support relief and rehabilitation efforts.
• The aid will cover rebuilding homes under PM Awas Yojana, restoring national highways, reconstructing schools, providing relief via PMNRF, and distributing mini kits for livestock.
• PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh to families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those seriously injured. Children orphaned by the disaster will receive long-term support through the PM CARES for Children scheme.

Acharya Devvrat Gets Additional Charge as Maharashtra Governor

• Acharya Devvrat, current Governor of Gujarat, has been given additional charge of Maharashtra after former Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan resigned following his election as Vice-President of India.

India, ADB Sign $126.4M Deal for Uttarakhand Tourism

• The Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a $126.4 million loan agreement to promote sustainable and climate-resilient tourism in the Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand, one of the state’s most vulnerable and economically challenged regions.
• The project aims to benefit over 87,000 residents and 2.7 million annual visitors by enhancing tourism planning, infrastructure, sanitation, waste management, and disaster preparedness.

India–Mauritius Special Economic Package 2025

• During the State Visit of Mauritian PM Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam to India, both nations reaffirmed their strong ties through comprehensive discussions and the announcement of a Special Economic Package by India totaling ~USD 680 million.
• This includes grant-based projects (USD 215 mn) supporting healthcare, education, and aviation, as well as grant-cum-Line of Credit projects (USD 440 mn) for key infrastructure such as roads, ports, and air traffic control.
• Strategic cooperation was also agreed upon in areas like maritime security and the Chagos Marine Protected Area, with an additional USD 25 million in budgetary support.

Insurance Surety Bonds for NHAI Cross ₹10,000 Cr Milestone

• Insurance Surety Bonds (ISBs) issued for National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) contracts have surpassed a significant milestone of Rs. 10,000 crore.
• As of July 2025, 12 insurance companies have issued approximately 1,600 ISBs as Bid Security and 207 as Performance Security, totaling around Rs. 10,369 crores.
• NHAI promotes ISBs alongside Electronic Bank Guarantees (eBG) as cost-effective, secure alternatives to traditional Bank Guarantees in infrastructure projects.

Manmohan Singh Posthumously Honoured with PV Narasimha Rao Award for Economics

• Late Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister and noted economist, was posthumously awarded the P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics for his pivotal role in India’s economic transformation.
• The award, instituted by the PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Foundation (PVNMF), was presented by Montek Singh Ahluwalia and received by Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, in New Delhi.
