Objectives of the Centre

Over a four‑year timeframe—critical for defining the global architecture and standards of 6G—the Centre will focus on three major pillars,

• AI‑transformed telecom: Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence tools to optimize network operations, enhance service delivery, and unlock new capabilities in autonomous telecom systems.
• Non‑terrestrial networks (NTNs): Pioneering satellite, airborne, and hybrid architectures to reach remote, rural, and underserved regions with high-speed, reliable connectivity.
• Telecom cybersecurity & interoperability: Developing robust security frameworks, open standards, and resilient protocols to safeguard communications infrastructure against evolving threats.

Together, these pillars aim to bridge the gap between the lab and the field, supporting testbeds, trials, standardization, and commercialization.

• The governments of India and the UK have committed £24 million over four years to operationalize this initiative.
