Significance of the Chinese language training:
The signing of the MoU between the Indian Army and Tezpur University on April 19, 2023 for training army personnel in the Chinese language will further enhance the in-house Mandarin expertise. The course, which will be conducted at Tezpur University and last for 16 weeks, will empower army personnel to effectively engage with their Chinese counterparts, whenever required.
Enhanced Chinese language proficiency among the army personnel will enable them to effectively articulate their perspectives. This, in turn, will facilitate better communication and comprehension of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s position on their actions, during events like commander-level talks, flag meetings, joint exercises, and border personnel meetings.
