Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Phase-1 of the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation and infrastructure development. Built with an investment of approximately ₹11,200 crore, the airport is one of the largest greenfield airport projects in the country. 1. Second International Airport for Delhi-NCR

This Airport will function as the second major international airport in NCR (National Capital Region-Delhi).

It will also reducing the heavy load on Delhi Indira Gandhi international Airport and improving passenger flow across the region.

2. Massive Infrastructure and Runway Capacity

Property was Spread across 1,334 hectares and the Phase I includes a 3,900-metre runway capable of handling large wide-body aircraft.

It is also making suitable for both domestic and international operations.

3. Passenger Capacity with Future Expansion

Initially the airport will handle the 12 million passengers annually. But the later with long-term plans to expand capacity up to 70 million passengers per year by 2036.

4. Strong Cargo and Logistics Ecosystem

The airport features a dedicated cargo system,

  • Initial capacity: 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually
  • Future expansion: Up to 18 lakh metric tonnes

Phase I of the project has been developed at a cost of around ₹11,282 crore.
