MSDE Signs Landmark MoU with WEF to Boost Vocational Education and Skills

India has taken a significant step towards building a future ready workforce by strengthening global cooperation in skill development. A new partnership aims to align vocational education and training with the changing demands of industry and the global economy. This initiative focuses on improving employability, promoting lifelong learning, and positioning India as a global hub for skilled talent.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Economic Forum to deepen cooperation in vocational education, training, and skill development through the launch of the India Skills Accelerator.

About the MSDE-WEF MoU

• The MoU aims to strengthen India’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem through global collaboration.

Focus on Emerging Technologies and Future Jobs

• The partnership places special emphasis on Future of Work domains such as artificial intelligence, robotics, green energy, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing.

Institutional Support and Governance Framework

• The implementation of the MoU will be guided by a structured governance framework with Co-Chairs from government and the private sector, supported by WEF.
• Institutions such as AICTE and UGC will collaborate with MSDE to scale awareness and adoption.
