Rashtrapati Nilayam in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North-East Region and the Ministry of Culture will host the first edition of Bharatiya Kala Mahotsav from September 29 to October 6, 2024.
About Kala Mahotsav
- The eight-day long celebration will showcase the rich and diverse cultural heritage of our North-Eastern states.Â
- Visitors will get acquainted with the art, culture, crafts, and culinary diversity of the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.Â
- More than 300 artists and artisans from these states would be participating in the event.
- The honorable President Shrimati. Droupadi Murmu Ji will inaugurate the Mahotsav on September 28, 2024.
What is Rashtrapati Nilayam?
- Rashtrapati Nilayam is one of the 3 Presidential retreats in India and the only one present in Southern India.Â
- It was constructed in 1860 with a total land area of 90 acres and was taken over by the Nizam of Hyderabad after independence.Â
- The President of India currently visits Nilayam every year in December.
