Badminton Asia Championships: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty Win Gold in Historic Final

A Hard-Fought Victory:

The World No. 6 Indian pair had to fight hard for their victory. They lost the first game to their opponents but bounced back to win the next two games. In the second game, they were trailing 7-13 but managed to claw their way back and win 21-17. In the final game, they held their nerve to win 21-19 and clinch the gold medal.

Historic Achievement for India:

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty’s victory is a historic achievement for India. It is only the second gold medal that India has won at the Badminton Asia Championships. The first was won by Dinesh Khanna in the men’s singles category in 1965. Satwik and Chirag’s victory is also the first big title win for them in 2023.

Prize Money and Recognition:

The Badminton Association of India has announced a prize money of Rs 20 lakh for the historic gold medalists. This recognition is well-deserved for Satwik and Chirag, who have been in excellent form in the past year. They won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2022 and were part of the historic Thomas Cup-winning team.
