Founder of the Indian Academy of Science
The Indian Academy of Sciences was founded by C.V. Raman, a famous Indian physicist. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his discovery of the Raman Effect. He started this academy in 1934 to promote science and encourage Indian researchers.
Establishment of the Indian Academy of Science
The academy was officially registered as a society on 27 April 1934. It was inaugurated on 31 July 1934, and during its first meeting, C.V. Raman was elected as the president. The academy started with 65 founding fellows who supported scientific research.
