‘World Health Assembly’ PM Modi addresses 76th Session
The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the 76th Session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland. He congratulated the World Health Organization (WHO) on serving the world for 75 years and expressed confidence that the WHO would set goals for the next 25 years as it reaches its 100 year milestone.

- He highlighted India’s commitment to international cooperation and the country’s success in shipping almost 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to over 100 countries, many of which are from the Global South.
- The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of traditional systems of healthcare such as Yoga, Ayurveda, and meditation, which address physical, mental, and social aspects of health.
- He noted that WHO’s first Global Centre for Traditional Medicine is being established in India.
- Additionally, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s achievements in healthcare in recent years, including the world’s largest health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat, the massive ramping up of health infrastructure, and initiatives to provide sanitation and drinking water to millions of families.
Finally, the Prime Minister commended the WHO on 75 years of advancing Health for All and expressed his support for the WHO’s future efforts.
