DAKSHIN: Center for Excellence:
During the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a global center for excellence named DAKSHIN, designed to benefit countries of the Global South. This initiative, proposed during the first Voice of Global South Summit in January, underlines India’s commitment to fostering cooperation and development among these nations.
Summit Structure:
The Second Voice of Global South Summit comprised 10 sessions, with inaugural and concluding sessions at the Head of State/Government level, both hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Themes of Leaders’ Sessions:
- Inaugural Session: The theme was “Together, for Everyone’s Growth, with Everyone’s Trust.” This session set the tone for collaborative efforts and trust-building among Global South nations.
- Concluding Session: Titled “Global South: Together for One Future,” this session aimed to encapsulate the collective vision and commitment of Global South nations towards a progressive world order.
Focus Areas:
The summit focused on sharing key outcomes from various G20 meetings during India’s Presidency. It provided a platform to address global challenges arising from recent developments and discussed strategies to sustain momentum for a more inclusive, representative, and progressive world order.
