Asian Games 2026: India Wins Silver in Women’s 50m Rifle 3P Team Event

India won the silver medal in women’s 50m rifle 3P team event at the Asian Games 2026. Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod Kochalumkal and Ashi Chouksey scored a combined 1763 points during the qualification. China won gold with 1773 points and Kazakhstan earned bronze medal with 1754 points. In addition, there were two individual finalists from India, with Tilottama placing third and Vidarsa sixth in the individual qualification.

China Wins Gold While India Takes Silver

China claimed first place in the team category with a score of 1773, winning by 10 points. Kazakhstan got bronze with 1754 points.

In the team qualification, the scores of three Indian shooters in the three categories – kneeling, prone and standing, were added up together. In addition, Tilottama and Vidarsa qualified for the individual final with eighth place finish.

The 1773-point tally was also an Asian Games record, according to the report.

Sen Tilottama and Vinod Vidarsa Enter Individual Finals

The silver medal won by India was accompanied by two places in individual finals.

Tilottama Sen scored 590 points in the individual qualification match and ranked third. With her stable performance in all three shooting positions, she qualified for the eight shooter final.

Vinod Vidarsa Kochalumkal recovered well despite her poor initial performance during the kneeling position phase. She scored 588 points and finished sixth.

Ashi Chouksey was ranked fifteenth scoring 585 points and failed to enter the individual final. However, her score helped India to win the silver team medal.

China’s Han Jiayu scored highest in individual qualification with 594 points.

What is the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Event?

The 50m rifle 3 positions event involves competing using three different types of shooting stance:

• Kneeling
• Prone
• Standing

The qualification involves 20 shots from each type of shooting stance, therefore each competitor fires a total of 60 shots during competition.

The team event involves adding up scores of the three individuals on the team. The individual qualification also helps select the finalists for the competition.

The event is included in the ISSF Rifle programme. International Shooting Sport Federation controls the competition rules and results of the 50m rifle 3 positions events.
