Achievements in the First 100 Days of the New Government

In the first 100 days of the new government, significant strides have been made in enhancing the ease of living for citizens and providing a dignified way of life. Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal addressed the press, highlighting the government’s commitment to fulfilling basic necessities, particularly housing and water management.

Housing Initiatives

To address the housing needs of citizens, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Housing for All” has driven the Union Cabinet to approve assistance for constructing homes for an additional 3 crore rural and urban households as of June 10, 2024. Under the PMAY-U 2.0 initiative, an investment of ₹10 lakh crore aims to support one crore families, ensuring improved quality of life for citizens.

Transportation Development

In the realm of transportation, the government is focused on enhancing urban transport availability. Within the first 100 days, three metro projects totaling ₹31,000 crore have been approved. These include the Bengaluru Metro Phase-3, Thane Internal Ring Road Metro Projects, and the southward extension of the Pune Metro Rail Project.

Water Management: Jal Hi AMRIT

Recognizing the importance of water sustainability, the government has introduced the new scheme Jal Hi AMRIT. This initiative incentivizes States and Union Territories (UTs) to efficiently manage used water treatment plants (UWTPs/STPs) to ensure the availability of recyclable, high-quality treated water. Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and parastatal agencies are in the process of nominating STPs from their respective states to support this effort.

Project Investments

As part of AMRUT 2.0, 68 projects worth ₹3,020 crore and 41 projects worth ₹3,805 crore will be implemented across states such as Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Cumulatively, the inauguration and foundation laying of 263 projects valued at ₹9,352 crore will be completed in the first 100 days.

Cleanliness Initiatives

In line with the Swachh Bharat Mission and the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 Campaign, approximately 7.5 lakh Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) have been registered on the portals, with around 86% of these units already cleaned, demonstrating the government’s commitment to a cleaner environment.
