Amit Shah Unveils Schemes and Projects Worth Over Rs 800 Crore in Bihar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a series of development projects and welfare schemes worth over Rs 800 crore in Bihar on the occasion of International Cooperative Day. The event, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and other dignitaries, marked significant contributions towards urban development, cooperative sector advancements, law enforcement infrastructure, and transportation projects.

Details of the Development Projects Announced

1. Cooperative Sector Development

Amit Shah launched schemes worth Rs 111 crore under the cooperative department aimed at strengthening cooperative societies and financial institutions. These schemes focus on:

• Enhancing cooperative banking services
• Improving agricultural credit access for farmers
• Strengthening primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS)

He also inaugurated a makhana processing unit at the Fishermen’s Cooperative Society in Darbhanga, promoting value addition and rural employment in the region.

2. Urban Development and Housing Initiatives

A major portion of the investment, amounting to Rs 421 crore, was allocated to the urban development and housing department. These funds will be used for:

• Infrastructure development in cities
• Affordable housing projects
• Upgrading municipal facilities

3. Law Enforcement and Security Infrastructure

Amit Shah also laid the foundation stone for 133 police buildings, worth Rs 181 crore. These projects include:

• New police stations to improve law enforcement
• Upgraded training centers for police personnel
• Modernization of security infrastructure

4. Road Transport and Highway Projects

Three road transport and national highway projects, valued at Rs 109 crore, were launched to enhance connectivity and ease transportation in Bihar. The projects include:

• Road widening and repairs in key areas
• Improved highway networks to facilitate better trade and commuting

Technology and Financial Inclusion Initiatives

Amit Shah distributed micro ATMs to ‘Bank Mitras’ of the Bihar State Cooperative Bank at a state-level conference attended by representatives from Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and other cooperative bodies. These ATMs aim to:

• Expand banking services in rural areas
• Facilitate digital transactions for farmers and small businesses
• Improve financial inclusion for the unbanked population

Amit Shah’s Political Engagement in Bihar

Apart from the development projects, Amit Shah’s visit also had a political dimension. He is set to:
