Unique Design and Configuration

Unlike its Vande Bharat counterparts, the Amrit Bharat Express follows a loco-hauled configuration, adorned with eye-catching hues of orange and grey. The train features a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at each end, employing a unique “push-pull” setup for faster acceleration and reduced travel time.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced the launch date and emphasized the inclusion of air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC coaches. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two Amrit Bharat Express trains on December 30, marking a momentous occasion in Indian rail history.

The train comprises 22 coaches, including 8 general second-class coaches, 12 second-class 3-tier sleeper coaches, and two guard compartments. Notable features include improved cushioned luggage racks, aesthetically pleasing seats and berths, and essential amenities such as mobile chargers. The Amrit Bharat Express also incorporates advanced facilities like zero-discharge FRP modular toilets and aerosol-based fire suppression systems.

Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, the Amrit Bharat Express reflects a commitment to providing a more comfortable travel experience. ICF General Manager BG Mallya highlighted the benefits of sealed gangways and enhanced toilet facilities in this new train model.
