To boost the India’s agricultural exports the total 7 acres of land have been transferred to the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) to setting up the basmati and organic training centre in the Tanda Bijesi village in the Pilibhit district. This ₹15 crore project will focus on to the training farmers in the premium basmati cultivation, seed production, organic farming and the export practices along with the introducing the modern technologies like AI-based crop mapping.
Project Overview and Key Features
This upcoming facility will be developed with the support of the Public Works Department (PWD) and it is expected to be completed within the one year.
Core Components of the Centre
- The advanced training facilities for the farmers
- Demonstration of the farms for the practical learning
- Also the seed production unit
- The auditorium for the workshops and seminars
- Also the museum which is showcasing 45 notified basmati varieties
- And the modern NABL-accredited laboratory
The lab will conduct testing for the,
- DNA profiling of the basmati rice.
- Also the pesticide residue analysis.
- The heavy metal detection.
Role of Technology: AI-Based Satellite Monitoring
One of the important features of this project is the integration of the AI-based satellite surveys.
- This technology will map the basmati cultivation areas.
- It will also identify the different basmati varieties.
- And it will generate the accurate data for export estimation.
This data-driven approach of the centre will improve the transparency, traceability and the efficiency in the basmati export ecosystem.
Boost to Farmers and Regional Agriculture
The centre will also be developed under the Basmati Export Development Foundation (BEDF) initiative.
It will not just only benefit farmers in Uttar Pradesh but it will also cater the neighbouring regions like,
- Uttarakhand
- Delhi

- It also have set the target to train over 50,000 farmers by 2025–26.
