Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit appointed as the President of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavana and along side with him Deepak Parekh as its Vice-President. It is the India’s most respected educational and cultural institution. The decision was taking taken unanimously in a joint meeting of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. The new leadership transition follows the resignation after the long serving President Surendralal Mehta on health grounds.
Banwarilal Purohit President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
The Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan unanimously elected the Mr. Banwarilal Purohit as the its new President.
The election followed the acceptance of the resignation of the Surendralal Mehta, who stepped down due to health reasons.
Purohit brings the decades of experience in the public life and administration and it has been closely associated with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for over two decades.
Before becoming the President, he served as the Vice-President of the institution for more than ten years.
Deepak Parekh Appointed Vice-President
The institution also elected the Deepak Parekh as its new Vice-President.
He is widely regarded as one of the India’s most influential business leaders and he has played the transformative role in the development of India’s housing finance sector.
His appointment is also expected to strengthen the institution’s governance and strategic vision.
As a Trustee and Executive Committee member Parekh has been actively involved in to the Bhavan’s educational and cultural initiatives for many years.

Banwarilal Purohit has been associated with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for approximately 22 years as the Trustee and member of the Executive Committee.
