Central Electricity Authority To Recognize Frontline Power Sector Heroes

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power, is gearing up to host the fourth edition of ‘Lineman Diwas’ in New Delhi on March 4, 2024. This annual celebration is dedicated to honoring the tireless dedication and service of linemen and ground maintenance staff who play a crucial role in electricity distribution across India.

Theme: ‘Seva, Suraksha, Swabhiman’

In collaboration with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL), the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Seva, Suraksha, Swabhiman’—a tribute to the selfless service of linemen nationwide. The event aims to highlight their invaluable contributions and the sacrifices they make to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Nationwide Tradition

The CEA envisions establishing ‘Lineman Diwas’ as a nationwide tradition across all state and private transmission and distribution companies. By dedicating a day to recognize their efforts, the aim is to foster a culture of appreciation and respect for frontline workers in the power sector.

Participation and Morale-Boosting

Linemen from over 100 transmission and distribution companies across India, including states like Gujarat, Odisha, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, among others, have been invited to participate. The event is expected to serve as a significant morale-booster for these frontline workers.

Platform for Exchange

Lineman Diwas provides a platform for linemen to share their experiences, challenges, and views with officials in a candid interaction. It facilitates the exchange of ideas and best safety practices, contributing to collective learning and enhancing efficiency in the power distribution sector.

Continuing the Tradition

Lineman Diwas has been celebrated since 2021, with each edition reaffirming the commitment to honoring linemen for their invaluable contributions to power distribution. The fourth edition in 2024 promises to uphold this tradition and further highlight the significance of their role in powering India’s journey towards a brighter future.
