In a boost for India’s fintech ecosystem, Curie Money has opened its UPI + investment application to all users following NPCI approval, while Lxme, a platform focused on women’s financial empowerment, launched LxmePay, a UPI facility exclusively for women. These moves signal growing innovation in India’s payment and investment space.
Curie Money Opens to All Users
- Curie was previously in a beta phase, restricted in access. After obtaining clearance from NPCI, the app is now available to all Android and iOS users.
- What makes Curie unique is that it merges payments and investment: unused funds are automatically invested into liquid mutual funds, and when a payment is made, the required amount is instantly redeemed from that fund and routed to the user’s bank account.
- Users can withdraw up to 90% of their mutual fund value (or ₹50,000, whichever is lower) instantly. Any remaining funds can be withdrawn within one working day. Curie has partnerships with ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and Bajaj Finserv AMC for these investments.
- Launched in 2022 by Arindam Ghosh and Tushar Choudhary, Curie closed its seed round in December 2024 with $1.2 million backing.
- This model turns idle money into earning capital—while keeping it instantly accessible for payments—a fusion of liquidity and yield.
