Sushma Swaraj, Delhi’s First Chief Minsiter
Sushma Swaraj, was an Indian politician, lawyer and diplomat. She was Delhi’s first female Chief Minister in 1998 and later served as India’s Minister of External Affairs (2014-2019). A senior BJP leader, she was the second woman to hold the External Affairs post after Indira Gandhi. Swaraj was elected seven times as an MP and became Haryana’s youngest cabinet minister at 25.
Sheila Dikshit
Sheila Dikshit was an Indian politician and Delhi’s longest-serving Chief Minister. She held the position for 15 years (1998-2013), making her the longest-serving female Chief Minister in India. As a leader of the Indian National Congress, she won three back-to-back elections in Delhi, bringing major developments to the city.
Atishi Marlena Singh
Atishi Marlena is an Indian politician from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She served as Delhi’s 8th Chief Minister (2024-2025) and was the third woman to hold the position. Before this, she was Delhi’s Education, PWD, Culture and Tourism Minister. She also worked as an advisor on education. Since 2025, she has been Delhi’s first female leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
Rekha Gupta, Current Chief Minister of Delhi
Rekha Gupta is an Indian politician and the 9th Chief Minister of Delhi since February 20, 2025. A BJP leader, she is the fourth female CM of Delhi and represents Shalimar Bagh as an MLA. Earlier, she was General Secretary and President of Delhi University Students’ Union and held key roles in BJP’s Delhi unit and National Executive.
