DMRC Appoints Sanjay Jamuar as First CEO of Delhi Metro International Limited

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appointed Mr. Sanjay Jamuar as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL). This move signals the DMRC’s intent to strengthen the its presence in international metro projects and urban transport consultancy.

What is Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL)?

The DMIL is the newly created which is wholly owned subsidiary of DMRC. It was established to take the India’s metro expertise to global markets.

This entity will focus on to bidding for the metro rail projects in foreign cities while also expanding the consultancy and operational services within India.

This initiative reflects the strategic shift where the DMRC is not just an operator but also the global player in metro planning, construction and operations.

Sanjay Jamuar’s Experience and Leadership Role

Sanjay Jamuar brings the decades of experience in the railway and metro systems.

He also a former of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer and he has worked across the multiple domains including operations, maintenance and international consultancy.

His career also spans the countries like the UK, USA, France and other regions in the West Asia and Europe also giving him a strong global perspective.

Also the Jamuar was DMRC’s first operations and maintenance employee when he had joined in 1998 and making this appointment a significant “homecoming.”

He also holds the postgraduate diploma in strategic leadership from Warwick Business School and has conducted the research in transport economics at Leeds University.

DMRC’s Growing Global and Domestic Footprint

DMRC has already established itself as the trusted name in the metro consultancy and execution.

It is currently involved in to the several key projects.

  • Also provided the consultancy for the Dhaka Metro in Bangladesh.
  • Also hold the operations and maintenance contracts for the Chennai, Mumbai and the Patna Metro.
  • Also starts the construction work in cities like Mumbai, Jaipur, and Patna.

Financial Strength and Business Model

DMRC has performed the strong financial performance with the total revenue of around ₹8,151 crore in 2024-25.

  • This includes the ₹3,946 crore from farebox collections.
  • Also collected the ₹4,205 crore from non-fare sources like advertising, leasing and consultancy.

The diversification of this revenue streams highlights the DMRC’s sustainable business model in which DMIL is expected to replicate and to expand internationally.
