Emmys 2026: Full List of Winners and Key Highlights

The 78th edition of Primetime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on 14 September 2026, with awards being handed out to those television productions and performances that were considered the best of the year. One of the most successful television shows during the evening was the Apple TV+’s show, Widow’s Bay, which won the Comedy Series award and also won accolades in acting, directing and writing categories. The HBO Max’s show, The Pitt continued its streak of winning the Drama Series award, while HBO’s DTF St. Louis won Limited Series.

Matthew Rhys and Jean Smart in Headlines

At the 2026 Emmys was Matthew Rhys was one of the most talked stars. He won the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award for Widow’s Bay but also the Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award for The Beast in Me. Thus, he won twice, making the event especially memorable.

Jean Smart received the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award for Hacks. The recent win was another success in her career in the category and was a continuation of her historic streak with the show.

Best Drama and Comedy Award Recipients

The Pitt became the Best Drama Series, whereas Noah Wyle won the lead actor award for The Pitt. Rhea Seehorn won the lead actress in a drama category for Pluribus. Also, Tom Pelphrey and Allison Janney received the awards in the supporting categories.

Widow’s Bay received the Best Comedy Series award. Moreover, Matthew Rhys, Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn also received acting awards in comedy for Widow’s Bay. Jean Smart received the lead actress award for Hacks.

Limited Series, Television and Variety Winners

DTF St Louis swept the limited series category winning Best Limited or Anthology Series along with directing and writing prizes. David Harbour and Linda Cardellini received supporting actor and actress awards respectively for the series.

Sally Field received Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie award for Remarkably Bright Creatures while Remarkably Bright Creatures won Television Movie.

The Traitors won Reality Competition Series while The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Variety Series and Writing for a Variety Series.
