The fourth edition of the Global Chess League (GCL) 2026 witnessed the crowning of the Ganges Grandmasters as champions for the first time ever. The tournament took place from 5 to 13 September 2026 and saw top-class players from around the globe take part in it. In the final, Ganges Grandmasters beat Alpine APL Pipers 7-5 in two legs. It was the second leg which was crucial for the win as Ian Nepomniachtchi beat World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen and Stavroula Tsolakidou beat Koneru Humpy to hand the victory to Ganges.

The final match was played between Ganges Grandmasters and Alpine APL Pipers in the two-leg knockout format at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru.
First leg was drawn 3-3 while the second leg was won by Ganges 4-2 to clinch the championship 7-5.

The first leg was a draw with Ganges Grandmasters playing as White with 3–3 result.
Ganges made an early lead when Levon Aronian beat Anish Giri from Board 2. Alpine APL Pipers made a comeback with Volodar Murzin beating Leon Luke Mendonca from Prodigy board.

In the second leg, Alpine APL Pipers played White, however, Ganges Grandmasters triumphed by a score of 4-2.
Greatest results were achieved at Board 1 as Ganges icon player Ian Nepomniachtchi won over Magnus Carlsen. Stavroula Tsolakidou managed to win from Koneru Humpy on Board 5.
