Manner of Election pf The Council Members
For the Council members are indirectly elected or they are nominated,
- 1/3rd by local bodies like municipalities, district boards
- 1/3rd by MLAs of the Legislative Assembly Members
- 1/12th by graduates
- 1/12th by teachers
- 1/6th nominated by the Governor who are experts in arts, science, social service and etc.

Eligibility and Tenure of Members
To become the part of the member of the Legislative Council a person has must meet some conditions under Article 173 and the Representation of People Act, 1951.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a citizen of India
- Minimum age: 30 years
- Must be a registered voter in the state
- For nomination, must be a resident of the state
Tenure
- 6 years term
- 1/3 members retire every 2 years
