The Telangana government has made Telugu a mandatory subject for Class 9 students across all CBSE, ICSE, IB, and other board-affiliated schools starting from the 2025-26 academic year. The initiative will extend to Class 10 students from 2026-27. The decision aligns with the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Act, 2018, ensuring the preservation and promotion of the Telugu language. The simplified Telugu ‘Vennela’ textbook (089 code as per CBSE) will replace the standard ‘Singidi’ textbook to facilitate easier learning.
