Roadmap and draft for green hydrogen ecosystem has unveiled by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources in a conference organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources in a partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Council of Scientific and Indian Research, Office of Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The key objectives of roadmap and draft prepared for green hydrogen ecosystem are:

  • To ensure the durability and reliability of storage systems.

Components of Roadmap and Draft prepared for Green Hydrogen:

  1. Efficient and safe storage solutions:
  • The primary goal of this roadmap is to create an efficient storage system for hydrogen with reducing leakage and facilitating easy refuelling.
  • The main focus is on enhancing the long-term durability and reliability of hydrogen storage, transportation and compression system to encourage their widespread use.
  • The aim is to demonstrate aboveground storage system with a capital cost lower than Rs.30,000 kg by 2030.
  1. Exploring underground storage:
  • The roadmap carries out research activities to validate the performance of underground storage in different geological conditions.
  • The objective is to demonstrate long-term underground cost lower than Rs.3000 kg by 2030.
  1. Indigenous development and Material Research:
  • The roadmaps highlighted the need of indigenous development of type III and type IV compressed hydrogen tanks and the synthesis of alloys or materials for solid-state hydrogen storage.
  1. Pilot Demonstration for Various Applications:
  • The roadmap reveals the importance of pilot-scale demonstrations for different vehicular appliances.
  • This shows the use of solid-state hydrogen storage tanks for stationery appliances like heating and cooling, hydrogen purification, thermal energy storage and backup power.
