Rural-Urban Internet Penetration Difference
Internet penetration in India stood at around 77.94 subscribers per 100 people at the end of the June 2026. Also, the difference between urban and rural areas remained substantial.
In case of Urban Internet penetration, the figure exceeded 100 per 100 persons since the metric used is subscription and not people. A single individual might subscribe for more than one connection. Hence, the number should not be considered as the proportion of Internet users among the population.
The figure of 49.07 shows that the Internet penetration was relatively lower in the rural area.
