Jharkhand Cabinet Boosts Women’s Honorarium and Key Initiatives

In a significant move, the Hemant Soren cabinet in Jharkhand has increased the monthly honorarium for women under the Maiyaan Samman Yojana from ₹1,000 to ₹2,500. This decision is seen as a response to the BJP’s Gogo Didi Yojana, which promises ₹2,100 per month to women as outlined in their election manifesto. Alongside this, the cabinet approved 28 proposals aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and social welfare in the state.

Netarhat Tourism Development: Administrative approval for the development of the Netarhat tourism area, with a total budget of ₹43.08 crore.

Residential Schools: Establishment of new residential schools in Kolhan, Chaibasa, and Santhal Pargana districts to enhance educational opportunities.

Road Infrastructure: Revised approval for road reconstruction projects totaling ₹109.16 crore, aimed at improving connectivity.

Educational Initiatives: Introduction of integrated science and mathematics laboratories in elementary schools with a budget of ₹50 crore under the Gyanodya Yojana. Additionally, regulations to implement Multiple Entry-Multiple Exit and Dual Degree Programmes in state universities were approved under the National Education Policy-2020.

Support for Orphan and Disabled Students: Launch of the Navothan Scholarship Scheme to provide financial assistance to vulnerable students.

Outstanding Salaries: Approval for payment of outstanding salaries to employees of the Integrated Bihar State Construction Corporation.
