During a match between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans at IS Bindra Stadium, Kagiso Rabada achieved a significant milestone by taking his 100th wicket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He became the fastest bowler to reach this milestone in terms of matches played, completing it in his 64th IPL match. Rabada, who is a right-arm pacer, surpassed Lasith Malinga, who reached the 100-wicket mark in his 70th match. The wicket that led to Rabada’s achievement was that of Wriddhiman Saha.

In 2020, while playing for Delhi Capitals, the 27-year-old Kagiso Rabada won the Purple Cap by taking the highest number of wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He took 30 wickets in 17 matches that season. In the IPL 2022 auction, he was purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs. 9.25 crore and picked up 23 wickets in 13 matches in the last season. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the fastest Indian to reach 100 IPL wickets, is the third-fastest overall to reach the milestone. Rashid Khan, Amit Mishra, and Ashish Nehra are tied at fourth position, having taken 83 matches each to reach the 100-wicket mark, while Yuzvendra Chahal is fifth, having taken 84 matches.
