The second edition of the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG) 2025 came to a grand conclusion after eight days of intense sporting action. The event, which witnessed participation from nearly 1,300 para-athletes, showcased exceptional talent, determination, and resilience. Held across three major venues in New Delhi—Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, and Karni Singh Shooting Range—this year’s edition was a testament to the unyielding human spirit.

Why in News?

The Khelo India Para Games 2025 saw Haryana once again emerging as the top-performing state with 34 gold medals, retaining its dominance from the inaugural edition held in 2023. Tamil Nadu (28 golds) and Uttar Pradesh (23 golds) finished in second and third positions, respectively. The event witnessed the creation of 18 national records, further highlighting the increasing competitiveness and excellence of para-athletes in India.

Haryana’s Dominance Continues

Haryana reaffirmed its supremacy in the Khelo India Para Games by clinching the top spot in the medal tally with 104 medals, including 34 gold, 39 silver, and 31 bronze. This was just one medal short of their performance in the first edition of KIPG 2023, where they won 105 medals (40 gold, 39 silver, 26 bronze).

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu made significant progress, jumping from third place in 2023 to second place in 2025 with 74 medals (28 gold, 19 silver, 27 bronze). On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh, which finished second in 2023, dropped to third place this year with 64 medals (23 gold, 21 silver, 20 bronze).

On the final day of the Games, Gujarat showcased remarkable performance in the table tennis competition held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
