In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s appeal for the promotion of locally-made products, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has taken a significant step towards fostering economic self-reliance for artisans in rural India. Under the leadership of Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC, the ‘Diwali Utsav’ Gramshilpa, Khadi Lounge was inaugurated in Connaught Place, New Delhi. This initiative aims to connect people with the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ during festive occasions.
The ‘Diwali Utsav’ Gramshilpa, Khadi Lounge, and associated initiatives exemplify a concerted effort to amplify the ‘Vocal for Local’ message. As citizens embrace locally-made products, they not only celebrate festivals but also contribute to the economic empowerment of rural artisans, aligning with the transformative vision set forth by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Special Range of Local Products:
To resonate with the Prime Minister’s call, a diverse range of locally-manufactured products has been made available during the ‘Diwali Utsav.’ The offerings include clay diyas crafted by potters in Delhi, idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh, handcrafted clay temples, products made from millets by Village Industries and Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) units, candles, agarbatti, Khadi jackets tailored by Khadi artisans and designers, and a fashionable range of Khadi garments.
Khadi products play a crucial role in providing economic self-reliance to rural artisans. To further encourage the purchase of indigenous products, the Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan in Connaught Place, New Delhi, is offering special discounts during the ‘Diwali Utsav.’ Customers can enjoy up to 20% off on Khadi products and 10% off on Village Industries products, promoting the spirit of Diwali Utsav and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
