‘Let’s Move India’ Campaign Celebrates Olympians Bound for Paris

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched the “Let’s Move India” campaign in collaboration with the Reliance Foundation and the Abhinav Bindra Foundation. The initiative aims to celebrate the Olympians heading to the upcoming Paris Olympics and encourage everyone to participate in physical activity.

Celebrating Olympians Through Movement

People of all ages, regions, and abilities are invited to recreate their favorite athlete celebrations or create their own unique movements. This inclusive campaign embraces a wide range of expressions, including catchy dance steps, hero tributes, or moves from India’s local games and sports.

Spreading the Joy of Movement

Participants are encouraged to upload their moves to social media platforms, tagging the Olympic Khel and Let’s Move India. The campaign aims to inspire and celebrate the Olympians while promoting physical well-being and unity through movement.

Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP)

Beijing Olympics gold medalist and IOC Athletes Commission member, Abhinav Bindra, highlighted the importance of the campaign, stating, “Let’s Move India is more than a campaign. It is a celebration of our collective spirit and dedication to physical well-being.” Bindra emphasized the impact of the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) in Odisha and Assam, where they have witnessed first-hand how sport can inspire and empower young minds.

Global Participation in ‘Let’s Move’

The IOC’s ‘Let’s Move’ campaign, launched on Olympic Day, June 23, 2023, has witnessed participation from over 1000 athletes and more than 1.5 million people around the world engaging in physical activity.

Inspiring an Active Lifestyle

Table tennis star Manika Batra expressed her support for the initiative, saying, “I am thrilled to support IOC’s Let’s Move India initiative. As an athlete, I believe that physical activity is essential for our well-being. Movement is medicine, and our goal is to inspire more Indians to embrace an active lifestyle. Together we can build a healthier, more active nation.”

Through this campaign, the IOC, Reliance Foundation, and Abhinav Bindra Foundation aim to foster a sense of unity, joy, and physical well-being among the Indian populace, while celebrating the achievements of the nation’s Olympians bound for the upcoming Paris Games.
