Manu Bhaker appointed brand ambassador for Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways

India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW)  appointed Manu Bhaker, the double Olympic medal winner, as a brand ambassador.

Nari Shakti in Marine

  • Jointly organized by the Chennai Port Authority and the Kamarajar Port Authority, the 4th Harnessing of the Nari Shakti for the Development of the Nation was held at the Chennai Port’s International Cruise Terminal in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Women achievers who have prior experience in the marine or are related to the field or other sectors were recognized for their contributions to the development of the nation.

  • It is a moment of great pride for every Indian; and for every member of India’s maritime sector. 
  • Manu Bhaker, the daughter of a proud marine sailor, is now going to champion the marine sector of India as she has been officially signed as the Brand Ambassador of the Ministry.
  • Her achievement as a successful sportsperson stems from the fact that she spent her formative years in a family driven by the values of the marine sector – of punctuality, discipline, perseverance and humility. 
  • Through her story, we want to reach out to the people of India, especially the youth, to tell them about the promising life that marine sector offers and how one can meaningfully contribute towards Bharat becoming Atmanirbhar by 2047.

About Manu Bhaker

  • Manu Bhaker (born 18 February 2002) is an Indian sport shooter. 
  • She has won 2 medals at the Olympics and World Championships, 19 medals at the World Cup and 4 medals at the Asian Championships. 
  • She won gold at the Commonwealth and Asian Games. 
  • She won 2 bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. 
  • She became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal. 
  • Later, she won another bronze and became the first Indian woman to win two medals in an Olympics.
