Nathan Thomas, an engineering teacher in the America, has achieved the record of being the youngest male professor in the world at the age of 18 years and 346 days. With this achievement, he created a record-breaking history, as he broke the previous record of 306 years.
Nathan Thomas was hired as a lecturer in Miami Dade College, Florida, USA. He began teaching students of engineering while he was still of the same age as many of them.

Nathan Thomas has now become the youngest male professor in the globe. He was appointed just recently to teach COP 2270: C for Engineers course with Miami Dade College in August 2023.
Guinness World Records has reported that Nathan Thomas set the record at 18 years and 346 days, thus breaking the Guinness World Record that has been in place for over 300 years.
His appointment proves that a person’s talent, devotion, and knowledge surpass age in higher education.
Breaks the Record That Remained Valid for over 300 Years
Nathan Thomas has surpassed the record set by the Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin, who became a professor when he was 19 years old in the early 1700s.
Thus, Nathan Thomas became the first person to break the record that stood for 306 years.
Moreover, Nathan was close to claiming the title of the youngest professor ever: he is only 16 days younger than Alia Sabur, the youngest woman professor.
Teaching Students His Own Age
Thomas taught the basics of programming and engineering, including the COP 2270 course on C for Engineers, at Miami Dade College.
Despite being of a similar age as many of his students, he does not think that age matters in the classroom.
He mentioned in an interview with the Guinness Book of World Records: “Once in the classroom, everybody is there for the same purpose – to learn.”
His main goal, he said, is to help his students irrespective of age.
