NewSpace India Limited partners with Tata Play to commission GSAT-24

In a strategic partnership, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) teams up with Tata Play to introduce GSAT-24. The objective of this partnership is to augment satellite broadcasting capabilities and provide high-quality entertainment to every part of the nation. This partnership signifies a significant advancement in India’s telecommunications sector, propelled by state-of-the-art indigenous technology.

Enhanced Broadcasting Landscape: Unleashing the Power of GSAT-24

The inclusion of GSAT-24 satellite will increase the bandwidth of Tata Play to deliver an even sharper picture and superior sound quality to its users.
This strategic collaboration also empowers Tata Play to accommodate a staggering 50 percent more channels.
At present, Tata Play has 600 channels. However, with the integration of the ISRO satellite, its capacity will expand to accommodate 900 channels, bringing substantial benefits to the wider public.
This move will effectively establish Tata Play as the premier satellite bandwidth provider among all Direct-to-Home (DTH) platforms in India.

About GSAT-24

GSAT-24, is an Indian Communication Satellite crafted by ISRO. It is a 4-tonne class communication satellite conceived by ISRO to facilitate DTH services.
It belongs to the 24-Ku band communication satellite category. The spacecraft incurred a budget of approximately ₹400 crore for its development.
Funding, ownership, and operational responsibilities for the GSAT-24 satellite are vested in New Space India Limited.
The Indian Government sanctioned the launch of GSAT-24 specifically to address the DTH application needs of Tata Play.
