Pink E-Rickshaw Initiative: Empowering Women through Green Mobility

The Government of Maharashtra has launched the Pink E-Rickshaw Initiative, a pioneering scheme to empower women economically and socially while promoting eco-friendly transport. Announced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the initiative began with a successful pilot in Pune and is now expanding across the state. It aims to provide electric rickshaws to women—especially those from vulnerable backgrounds—offering them a sustainable livelihood option. The project also includes substantial financial support, training, and infrastructure development, making it a holistic model for women’s empowerment.
