Today, we are gathered here to celebrate the 77th Republic Day of India with great pride and joy. On 26 January 1950, our country adopted the Indian Constitution and became a sovereign, democratic republic. This historic day reminds us of the values on which our nation stands—justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Republic Day is not just a national holiday; it is a day to remember the long struggle for freedom. Brave leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and many others sacrificed their comfort and even their lives so that we could live in a free and democratic India. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, gave us a strong framework that protects our rights and guides our duties as citizens.
Every year, the grand Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path shows India’s strength, unity, and rich cultural diversity. It reflects the progress of our nation in fields such as defence, science, education, and technology. It also reminds us that India’s real strength lies in its people, coming from different religions, languages, and cultures, yet living together as one nation.
As citizens of India, we must understand that rights come with responsibilities. We should respect our Constitution, follow the law, protect public property, and work honestly for the development of our country.
