China will hold joint naval and air drills with Russia in the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk along with the two countries carrying out a joint maritime patrol in the Pacific.
Russia’s remarks
- It was starting the joint Russian-Chinese naval exercise that would include anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons.
- Its Pacific Fleet and the People’s Liberation Army Navy will coordinate on “practical actions in defending maritime communications and areas of maritime economic activity” in the region.
China’s Remarks
China’s Defense Ministry said that its naval and air forces would also participate in the “North-Joint 2024” exercises with Russia in the skies and around the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.
Warships
- Russian large anti-submarine destroyers Admiral Panteleyev and Admiral Tributs as well as corvettes MPK-82 and MPK-107 were among the warships taking part in the drills.
- China was represented by the destroyers Xining and Wuxi, the frigate Linyi and the integrated supply ship Taihu.

More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels are expected to be deployed across the Pacific and Arctic oceans, as well as the Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic seas.
Sea of Okhotsk
