Scholarship for PM CARE children
The PM CARE Children’s scheme has launched on 29th May 2021 by the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative was started in February 2020 to provide financial assistance and support to children who have lost both their parents or legal guardians or adoptive parents or surviving parents due to the covid-19 pandemic. The department of social justice and empowerment and the ministry of social justice and empowerment together have decided to provide scholarship assistance to such children who have lost their both parents and are legal guardians due to covid-19. This initiative was taken so that the children can continue with their education without any hindrance. A new scheme called “Scholarship for PM CARE children” is the central sector scheme.

The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi addressed the program and said that he knows how difficult the situation was for the people who lost their family members during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that through the scheme the government aims to help the children who lost their parents during the pandemic and provide the proper incentives. The financial support will help them to continue with their education or their livelihood without having to suffer from poverty because of a lack of family. He also stated that he is very happy to be a part of this country and he wants to treat the children as a member of his family.
PM CARE children’s scheme: Details
The scheme allows ₹20000 per child per annum which comprises a monthly allowance of ₹1000. The annual academy allowance is rupees 8000 which covers the entire school fees, cost of books, uniforms, shoes, and other educational equipment required by the children. The scholarship will be given through DBT to the children from the first standard until they pass out the 12th standard. Under the scheme, 3945 children have benefited with an amount of rupees 7.89 crores during 2022 – 2023. The scholarship for PM CARE children was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 30th May 2022.
Under the scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred the scholarship to school-going children and a passbook of PM cares for children and health card under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya Yojana were given to the children during the launching program.
