Shivraj Singh Chouhan to Launch NAKSHA for Urban Land Survey

Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) pilot program on February 18th in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Land Resources, aims to modernize urban land surveys across 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 26 states and 3 Union Territories (UTs). The ₹194 crore project, fully funded by the central government, will improve land record accuracy, support urban planning, and reduce land disputes.

• Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (MPSEDC) developing an end-to-end web-GIS platform.
• National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI) managing data storage.
• State and UT governments to conduct field surveys and ground truthing.

Budget & Funding

• Total cost: ₹194 crore.
• Fully funded by the central government.
