Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025. The grand finale took place on Saturday, May 31, in Hyderabad, Telangana, marking a significant moment in pageant history.
A Historic Victory for Thailand
Opal Suchata Chuangsri’s win is a milestone achievement for Thailand, as she becomes the first Thai contestant ever to win the Miss World title. Competing against 107 national representatives from across the globe, Chuangsri’s grace, intelligence, and charm earned her the coveted crown.
She edged out Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu, who finished as the first runner-up, in a highly competitive final round.
The Crowning Moment
The newly crowned Miss World dazzled in a white gown adorned with opal-like floral embellishments, a symbolic representation of healing and strength. Her attire not only captivated the audience but also reflected her personal journey and values.
She was crowned by the reigning Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic, in an emotional handover moment that was met with loud cheers and applause from attendees.
India’s Miss World Journey Ends Early This Year
India’s representative for Miss World 2025, Nandini Gupta, unfortunately did not advance to the Top 8 finalists, ending the country’s hopes for a seventh crown this year.
In contrast, during the previous edition in 2024, India’s Sini Shetty had secured a place among the Top 8, though she did not make it to the Top 4.
India has a storied history at the Miss World pageant, having won the title six times, with the most recent winner being Manushi Chhillar in 2017.
A Glorious Return of Miss World to India
Notably, this is the second consecutive year the Miss World pageant was hosted in India, breaking a 28-year gap since its last Indian edition. The 2024 event also took place in India, with Krystyna Pyszkova emerging as the winner over strong contenders like Yasmina Zaytoun of Lebanon, Ache Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago, and Lesego Chombo of Botswana.
India’s warm hospitality and successful hosting of the global event once again brought the country into the international spotlight.
