Trump $1 coin gains massive popularity in USA after the US Mint launched the commemorative coin in honor of the President. Launched as part of America’s Semiquincentennial celebrations, the 2026 coin carries President Donald Trump on one side and the Presidential Seal on the other side. The launch has generated much hype due to the demand being strong enough to force the shoppers to join virtual queues while some rolls and bags went out of stock. One more reason for attracting much attention from the coin lovers is that portraying a living US President on American money is very rare.
Trump $1 Coin Released for 250th Anniversary
2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald Trump $1 Coin has been launched for sale by the US Mint on its official online catalogue starting Wednesday midday.
Buyers went nuts right away as reports said buyers were put into virtual waiting rooms with wait times up to more than an hour.
Mint had limited buyers to two coins online per person in an effort to control the demand. In just few hours of the sale, 25-coin rolls valued at $61 were reported as currently not available in stock, and 100-coin bags worth $154.50 were sold out.
What Does the Trump $1 Coin Look Like?
The coin comprises a proprietary blend of copper, zinc, manganese, and nickel, which makes it appear gold-colored but contains no gold.
The obverse side depicts Trump’s bust along with the inscriptions “LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and years “1776–2026”.
The reverse of the coin has the Presidential Seal that consists of the American eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows. Number “250” is depicted on the breast shield of the eagle. There is also an inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “ONE DOLLAR”.
Special July 4 Trump Coin Version
There is another reason for collectors to carefully examine the new coins. The US Mint produced 250,000 special coins on July 4 featuring unique “July 4th” privy mark.
They were randomly mixed in rolls and bags sent to customers and entered into general circulation.
It means that collectors can possibly find such a coin when looking at ordinary pocket change. The Mint even encouraged Americans to examine their coins for the unique marking.
What is the significance of the appearance of Trump on the coin?
The issuing of this coin has great historical significance because according to the US minting customs, no living person has ever been put on the American currency.
It should be noted that there was one exception in 1926 when President Calvin Coolidge appeared on a half-dollar coin issued for the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
