Union Cabinet chaired by Narendra Modi has approved three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase V (A). The decision aims to strengthen connectivity across Central Delhi, South Delhi and the Domestic Airport area, while promoting clean and efficient public transport in the national capital. The approved Phase V(A) project spans 16.076 km and comes with an estimated cost of ₹12,014.91 crore which is funded jointly by the Government of India, Government of Delhi, and international funding agencies.

Phase V (A) is a focused extension aimed at filling key connectivity gaps.

The project includes extensions of existing metro lines, including the Magenta Line and the Golden Line.
Three Newly Approved Corridors
The Cabinet has approved the following three corridors.
1. R.K. Ashram Marg – Indraprastha Corridor
- Length: 9.913 km
- Extension of: Botanical Garden – R.K. Ashram Marg corridor
- Purpose: Direct metro access to Central Vista
This corridor will connect key landmarks and government offices, offering doorstep connectivity to around 60,000 office-goers and 2 lakh visitors daily.
2. Aerocity – IGI Airport Terminal 1 Corridor
- Length: 2.263 km
- Extension of: Aerocity – Tughlakabad corridor
- Purpose: Seamless metro access to Domestic Airport Terminal-1
This will greatly benefit air travellers and airport staff.
3. Tughlakabad – Kalindi Kunj Corridor
- Length: 3.9 km
- Extension of: Aerocity – Tughlakabad corridor
- Purpose: Improved connectivity for South Delhi areas like Saket, Tughlakabad and Kalindi Kunj
