UP Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana 2026: Eligibility, Benefits, Documents Required & How to Apply

The UP Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana (MKSY) is state’s one of the flagship welfare schemes of the UP Government which is aimed at to improving the welfare, education, and empowerment of the girl child. The scheme was launched in the year 2019 to provide financial assistance of up to Rs. 25000 in six installments to a girl child from birth till she completes her 12th class or graduation. By promoting the education, this scheme aims to reduce the gender discrimination and creates equal opportunities for girls and encourage families to invest in their future.

What is UP Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana?

The UP Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a financial support initiative introduced by the UP government aimed at assisting with the complete upbringing and education of girl children.

It gives beneficiaries six successive payments based on certain key events in a girl child’s life; these include birth, immunization, admission into school and higher education.

The main objective of the program is to improve the status of girls through education, breaking gender discrimination and enabling girl children to achieve their social and economic independence.

Objectives of the Program

Some of the salient objectives of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana are as follows,

  • Encouraging the birth and welfare of girl enfants.
  • Making improvements to the child sex ratio.
  • Encouraging girls to pursue graduation and other higher studies.
  • Reducing the incidents of child marriage.
  • Providing financial support to economically backward families.
  • Promoting gender equality and social empowerment for women.
  • Making sure that the financial aid reaches the beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer schemes.

Stage wise payments

This scheme is applicable in 6 stages in the life of a girl.

  • Stage 1: Birth of a girl child
  • Stage 2: Complete immunization
  • Stage 3: Admission in Class 1
  • Stage 4: Admission in Class 6
  • Stage 5: Admission in Class 9
  • Stage 6: Admission in Class 12 or graduation/professional course

The amount is transferred directly to the bank account of beneficiaries or their mothers linked to Aadhaar after all verifications.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the conditions to be satisfied by the aspirants applying for the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana,

  • The girl child should be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The total annual income of the family should not be above ₹3 lakh.
  • Only two children are allowed in a family.
  • In case of twins or double the birth of girls, both the children are eligible; and the applicant must possess bank details linked with Aadhaar.

The following documents are required for applying,

  • Aadhaar Card of self or parent(s)
  • Birth Certificate of Female Child
  • Aadhaar Card of the parents or female child
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Aadhaar linked Passbook
  • Income Certificate
  • Vaccination Certificate
  • Two passport size photographs
  • School Admission Certificate (revocation of
  • Aadhaar number and mobile number is finalized)

How to Apply Online for Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme?

Eligible persons can register online by completing the following steps,

First Step: Go to the Official Site

Applicants need to go to the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme official website: https://mksy.up.gov.in

Second Step: Register as a New User

Beneficiaries need to click on “Citizen Service Portal” and select “New User Registration”.

Third Step: Verification of Mobile Number

Need to provide your mobile number and then verify it via OTP.

Fourth Step: Login Id Generation

Log into the portal after successful registration.

Fifth Step: Application for Girl Child Registration

Applicants have to select “Girl Child Registration” and fill in the required details like,

  • Birth information
  • Family details
  • Income information
  • Address

Sixth Step: Upload Documents

Need to upload scanned copies of all the documents required.

Seventh Step: Fill Bank Details

Applicants needs to provide Aadhaar linked bank information of mother or beneficiary.

Eighth Step: Submit Application

After filling all details, you have to submit your application.

Once submitted the application, an Application Reference Number will be generated which applicant need to keep for tracking purposes.
