85-Year-old Renowned mathematician and great scholar Padma Shri Awardee Shri Rangasami Lakshminarayan Kashyap or RL Kashyap passed away. RL Kashyap translated around twenty-five thousand Sanskrit mantras into English language. Apart from Mathematics, RL Kashyap has also made many important contributions to the field of Veda. He received many international awards for his immense contributions to the fields of science and technology. Kashyap also wrote more than 250 research papers.

Who was Rangasami Lakshminarayana Kashyap?
- RL Kashyap was the founder of a spiritual organization called Sakshi Trust and was among the recipients of the Padma Shri award in 2021, which seeks to recognize achievements in all fields and disciplines that involve the element of public service.
- RL Kashyap was a mathematician who also studied electrical engineering. In the later days, Kashyap worked as a professor of Electrical engineering at America’s Perdue University. He also developed the Ho-Kashyap rule, A pivotal algorithm in Pattern recognition, with another professor in Harvard, Yu-Chi Ho. After presenting Kashyap Information Creation (KIC) which is related to the discipline of maths, Kashyap came to the fore on the world stage.
- Apart from Mathematics, RL Kashyap has also made many important contributions to the field of Veda. He has translated around 25,00 Shlokas/Mantras of Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda into English. Kashyap has also written many books which were later translated into multiple languages. His accolades and achievements include Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Visvesvaraya Science Award, Veda Brahma Award.
