3. Praying at Maqam Ibrahim: After completing Tawaf, pilgrims offer two units of prayer.
4. Drinking Zamzam: Pilgrims drink the blessed Zamzam water.
5. Sa’i: They walk between the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times.
6. Cutting Hair: Men shave or trim their hair, while women cut a small portion. This ends the state of Ihram.
Umrah vs. Hajj
Though both pilgrimages take place in Makkah, they are different:
- Umrah can be done anytime and takes only a few hours.
- Hajj happens only in Dhul Hijjah and is mandatory once in a lifetime for those who are able.
- Hajj includes more rituals and takes several days.
Travelling for Umrah
Many people book Umrah packages because they include visas, hotels, and travel arrangements. Some prefer to plan everything themselves by applying for a Saudi visa, booking flights, and choosing hotels near the Haram in Makkah.
