Gujarat Sets Up Cyber Security Panels to Protect Energy Infrastructure

With increasing use of digital technologies like smart meters, smart grids and automated control systems in the power sector, energy infrastructure has become more vulnerable to cyber threats. Recognising this risk, the Gujarat government has taken an important step to strengthen cyber security in its energy sector. The state has set up dedicated committees to review preparedness, improve systems, and ensure long-term protection of critical power infrastructure.

Why in the News?

The Gujarat government has constituted an 11 member Core Committee and a 19 member Task Force to safeguard the state’s energy infrastructure from cyber attacks, amid rising cyber risks linked to smart grids, SCADA systems, and digital power supply networks.
