PM Modi Inaugurates NGT International Environment Conference 2026

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on September 19, 2026. This two-day event will witness the participation of judges, environmentalists, government and judicial officials from 17 countries. The event is dedicated to the discussion of upcoming environmental and climate issues, environmental justice, climate governance and institutional contribution towards environmental protection and will conclude on September 20.

Details of the NGT International Conference 2026

The conference will be organised at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, from September 19 to 20, 2026.

The NGT is organising this conference to hold discussions on the issues related to environment and climate and also to promote judicial, scientific and governance perspectives among countries.

Who Are The Attendees at The Conference?

The conference has managed to gather eminent judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries and also attendees from India.

From India, there will be attendees such as the judges from the Supreme Court and High Courts, District Court judges, top government officials, and the representatives of State Judicial Academies and State Legal Services Authorities.

There are also going to be SEACs, SEIAAs, State Wetland Authorities, and other environmental institutions.

What Will They Discuss?

The purpose of the conference will be to address the gap in the formulation, implementation, and enforcement of the environmental policies.

According to the NGT, the forum will help in exchanging the experience of the jurisdictions and also try to improve the environmental governance and cooperation.

The topics that are going to be discussed under the technical programme will include climate justice and inclusion, environmental law and governance, planetary environmental challenges and cooperation, and forest protection and restoration.

Prominent Individuals to Attend the NGT Conference

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, will attend the first session as the chief guest. Apart from these, the following individuals have been listed as dignitaries attending the conference by the NGT: CJI Justice Surya Kant, Union Minister for Environment Bhupender Yadav, Attorney General R. Venkataramani, and NGT Chairman Justice Prakash Shrivastava.

The valedictory session which is set to be held on September 20 will be graced by President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest.

What Is the National Green Tribunal?

The National Green Tribunal is a specialized judicial organization established under the National Green Tribunal Act of 2010.

It was established for effective and speedy disposal of cases regarding the protection and conservation of environment and forests and other natural resources.
