The Delhi government has doubled the monthly incentive for Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000, benefiting around 6,690 ASHA workers across the capital.
The decision was announced on 6 October 2026 as part of a series of health-sector initiatives launched during ASHA Sammelan-2026 and ASHA Samman Samaroh held at Thyagraj Stadium, Delhi.
Along with the increase in ASHA incentives, the government also launched the Nursing Home Management System portal, expanded Mission ANMOL, and inaugurated a new building for the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO).
ASHA Workers’ Incentives Doubled
Under the revised structure, the monthly incentive for ASHA workers has been increased from ₹3,000 to ₹6,000.
ASHA workers play a key role in community-level healthcare delivery, particularly in areas such as:
- Maternal and child health
- Immunisation
- Family welfare
- Public health awareness
- Household-level health outreach
ASHA stands for Accredited Social Health Activist and these workers operate under the National Health Mission (NHM).
Nursing Home Management System Portal Launched
The Delhi government also launched the Nursing Home Management System portal to digitise the registration and renewal process for private nursing homes.
The portal is aimed at making regulatory processes:
- Faster
- More transparent
- Paperless
- Easier to monitor
Private nursing homes in Delhi will be able to use the platform for online registration and renewal.
Mission ANMOL Expanded
Another major announcement was the expansion of Mission ANMOL.
ANMOL stands for Advanced Newborn Monitoring for Optimal Lifecare.
Under the expanded programme, newborn babies will be screened for 63 congenital, genetic and metabolic disorders within 24 to 72 hours of birth.
The Delhi government aims to increase annual newborn screening coverage from around 1.5 lakh to 2.5 lakh newborns.
Early screening can help in the timely detection and treatment of serious disorders, improving long-term health outcomes for newborns.
New SOTTO Building Inaugurated
A new building for the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) was also inaugurated virtually at GB Pant Hospital, Delhi.
SOTTO serves as the state-level coordinating body for:
- Organ donation
- Tissue donation
- Transplantation activities
- Coordination between hospitals and transplant centres
The initiative is expected to further strengthen organ and tissue transplant coordination in Delhi.

The health initiatives were launched during ASHA Sammelan-2026 and ASHA Samman Samaroh at Thyagraj Stadium.
The programmes were jointly launched by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
