AOMSUC-14 Innovating Weather Monitoring

The 14th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users’ Conference (AOMSUC-14) is scheduled to take place from December 4–6, 2024, in New Delhi, India. Hosted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, this event will bring together meteorologists, satellite operators, scientists, and young researchers from across the globe. Aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing satellite meteorology, the conference will include oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and a training workshop.

Objectives of AOMSUC-14

• Promoting Satellite Observations: Highlighting the critical role of satellites in meteorology and climatology.
• Advancing Remote Sensing Science: Encouraging innovations in satellite-based data collection and analysis.

Key Events and Activities

Inauguration

• Led by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State.
• Presence of prominent dignitaries including Dr. M. Ravichandran (Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences) and Sh. Nilesh M. Desai (Director, SAC-ISRO).

Training Workshop

• Held on December 2–3, 2024, at IMD, New Delhi.
• Includes 70 trainees from various countries.

Main Conference

• Features 150 participants from across the globe.

Regional Coordination Meeting

• Scheduled for December 7, 2024, at IMD, New Delhi.

Historical Context

• The first AOMSUC was held in Beijing, China, in 2010.
• Since then, it has been hosted annually in various Asia-Oceania locations.
