Asian Games 2026 Day 1: India’s Results and Medal Tracker

India’s campaign at the Asian Games 2026 kick-off in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan, on the first day of the campaign India open its account in Shooting. On first day, Elavenil Valarivan claimed Silver medal in the women’s 10m air rifle individual event after having a close final, while she also joined the Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod in winning team silver. Indian team has also secured the medal in the women’s traditional 60kg MMA event after Suchika Tariyal reached to semifinal of the event. Also there are several Indian teams and athletes were also in action across the different sports like Hockey, Badminton, Table-Tennis and Swimming.

India’s Medal Winner’s On Day 1

Elavenil Valarivan – Silver, Women’s 10m Air Rifle

In the women’s 10m air rifle individual final event, Elavenil Valarivan delivered a sensational performance in the Gold medal match. At the start of final, she was leading late but in the end she eventually fought back and finished second with 252.4 points and she claimed the Silver medal.

Japan’s Hinata Taichi won the Gold with the score of 253.0 points.

India’s women’s 10m air rifle team also finished at the second place. This trio has combined for the 1898.0 points, which is trailing behind China’s 1904.2

This result gave the India another silver medal and Shooting became the India’s first medal event at the Aichi-Nagoya.

Suchika Tariyal Earns MMA Medal for India

India also won a medal in women’s traditional 60kg MMA competition. Suchika Tariyal beat Altanchimeg Baigalmaa of Mongolia 2-0 in the quarterfinal match to make it to the semifinals.

India will definitely earn a medal in the competition despite the exact medal color depending on how the rest of her games go.

India Recordes Several Successes in Team Events

In addition, India scored several successes in team events on Day 1.

The women’s team in hockey won against Uzbekistan with 19-0, while the men’s team beat Indonesia with a score of 13-1. The women’s cricket team won against Bangladesh in the semifinals.

India started the table tennis competition with a 3-0 victory over Indonesia in both women’s and men’s team Group F matches. India won against Kazakhstan with a score of 3-0 in the women’s team match in the first round of the badminton event.

  • Wushu: Suraj Singh Mayanglambam ranked 11th in the men’s Changquan final.
  • Teqball: Quimcy Dsouza was eliminated from the women’s singles bronze medal match.
  • Teqball: Quimcy Dsouza and Mohamed Anas Beg were eliminated from the mixed doubles bronze medal match.
  • Swimming: Benediction Beniston ranked 12th and Akash Mani 23rd in the men’s 100m freestyle heats.
  • Swimming: Rishabh Das qualified for the men’s 100m backstroke heats after finishing fifth and Utkarsh Patil ranked 12th.
